Is He Your Soul Mate? Look For The Signs!

Recently, I woke up to discover a car with a broken axle sitting in front of my house. To me, it symbolized a part of human nature that can cause problems, and can even keep you from ending up with your true love. Let me explain. I live close to an intersection that was closed due to construction. Leading up to the intersection, there were all kinds of signs posted letting drivers know that the road was closed.

Now, the signs themselves weren’t terribly fascinating to me. All drivers have seen these signs hundreds of times before. What did catch my attention was how the drivers often ignored the signs. Many people drove passed at least three signs before arriving at the road block right in front of our house. They had to see the physical road block before they were convinced that they could go no further. One car even tried to drive around the road block before tumbling into the hole on the other side, breaking it’s axle.

Why is it that people refuse to read the signs? The road is closed. Nothing will change that. There is no magical power given to any of us that will open the road to us individually. It is closed whether or not we choose to acknowledge it. Yet, many people still ignore the signs, hoping things will be different for them.

Many of us are this way in relationships. There are tell tale signs letting us know what lies on the road ahead. Many times we ignore the signs of a relationship headed for disaster and end up breaking down at the end of the line. All too often, we also ignore signs that indicate the long term vitality of a relationship and turn around prematurely because of minor bumps in the road.

What types of relationship signs can you see on your relationship road? Here are a few to look for: 1. Recognize if you are compatible with each other. 2. Identify if you are both heading down a similar path in life. 3. See if universal values like honesty and fidelity are part of your relationship. 4. Know the attributes that will destroy any relationship and avoid them.
