The major different between table saws is voltage - they come in 240 or 120. The lower voltage is entirely adequate for amateur use, but if you are going into woodworking professionally or expect to be using the saw heavily, go for the higher voltage. With a voltage of 240, you’ll need an electrician to make a few adjustments to the lines before you can use it.

Some things to keep in mind about table saws include, first and foremost, how much kick the motor has. You also need to concerns yourself with whether the saw tilts to the right or left. Also, make sure there is some mechanism in the saw that catches some of the dust created when you’re using it, or you’ll have a major mess on your hands. Above all else, make sure the saw feels comfortable in your hands and that you think you’ll be able to maneuver it with accuracy.

If table saws are the most important, miter saws are a close second. Without a miter saw in your workshop, you will not be able to cut corners or make curves and angles at all. If you have a large job on your hands, a miter saw is also a must. Be aware that some miter saws work on a stand and some miter saws work on the ground. The choice between these is a matter of personal preference. You should always go for the saw that feels best and most comfortable for you when you are doing your work.
