Skill emphasis during the interview is important to show the employer what makes you different from all the other job candidates. In this competitive world, companies search for the most qualified employees by weighing skills of the candidates and determining how they would benefit the company.
Perspective employees could stand out more as they demonstrate their areas of expertise; demonstrate their ability to develop, and showing their resourcefulness to work well as a team member.
Skills are grouped into three kinds - knowledge-based, transferable, and personal traits.
Those skills supported experience are knowledge-based. Which as well include seminars went to, supplementary educating, educational attainment and other practices that have been studied in your area.
Also included in knowledge based skills are communication and computer skills, developing products, managerial and marketing know how. Depending on which industry you enter the skill levels required will vary for each person.
Next are those skills that would be portable which you could bring to a new job. This is how come you might hear the notorious question, ‘what can you bring to the table?’ Because companies like to educate their work force they as well try to search employees that have transferable skills.
Portable skills include problem solving, team leader potential, organized, writing and communication skills, customer service oriented, time and project management, and good with numbers and budget. This kind of skills varies depending on the experience and versatility of each job candidate.
When an employer asks you the question ‘Tell me something about yourself’, they are trying to determine your personal traits. Don’t take this question lightly as it will determine the tone for the rest of the interview to follow.
And so what are honorable personal traits? Well those would also include being goal oriented, well organized, analytic and imaginative. Be humble and try to sell yourself in the time available in your interview.
Make an impressive presentation to a future employer by doing a self assessment. Look at your resume and note all the skills you jotted down for your previous employment. Make a good list of what your strengths and skills are. Dig deep, know yourself and put it on your resume why you are the best.
Once you completed updating your CV and you acknowledge all your strong points, you will be ready a job interview. Companies would like to know what you’ve accomplished, how well you did it and how well you can deliver that data.
Emphasizing all of your strengths and skills on job interviews would increase your chances of landing the desired job.
