Many hobbies have clubs where fellow hobbyists can get together - us humans like to share knowledge and get further insight into things we enjoy. Pooling our knowledge and skills in a club helps everyone involved. No more reinventing the wheel for every single model railroader!

There are thousands of model railway clubs spread all around the world. We’re hardly part of some obscure fringe group of people here.

Clubs like the Lionel Collectors Club of America (the LCCA) offer many resources and ways for their members to share their love of the hobby. Something that would be much more complicated without the club serving as a point to get together.

There are also various types of model railroading clubs - far more than just the various scales. A link at Railserve.com, for example, lists well over 150 clubs around the world - each with a specific focus or specialty.

They all have something in common, however - a love of model railroading and the desire to improve the overall state of the hobby by sharing their knowledge and skills with one another. If you’re interested in model railroading, you’ll see lots of benefits from joining a club.

Rome after all was not built in a day, nor by one engineer!

Whether your interest revolves around prototyping real-world scenes, collecting hard to come by equipment from yesterday or just reflect a fascination with trains in general a club that has a focus you can enjoy is out there.

You’ll be glad you took the time to connect with them. There’s nothing wrong with working on your own, but sharing your skills with others while learning from them at the same time is a lot more satisfying.
