Dieting in the 21st century has gone far beyond being a trend or fad. For millions of Americans, it’s a way of life. Unfortunately, for a large portion of these, it’s not yet been as effective as it could be. Many of these people are still searching in vain for that perfect diet, the one that will help them lose weight and keep it off. The problem that destroys many people’s dieting attempts is the “snack factor.” Americans love those between-meal snacks more so than they do the big three meals themselves. So if it were possible to build a diet around this concept, around foods that actually destroy calories rather than increase them, this would be a big breakthrough.

Well there are foods like that and there are many foods that burn more calories than you could ever imagine. These food types are actually called ‘negative calorie foods’ and they burn more calories than you consume by eating them. Making it much easier to lose those unwanted love handles!

In truth, there is no such thing as a truly “negative calorie” food. That is, no food has fewer than zero calories. However, there are foods with so few calories that the process of chewing them and digesting them burns more calories than the foods provide.

The negative calorie foods we’re about to discuss will do two things for you that will help you on your dieting quest. First, as we mentioned, they will burn more energy than they actually contain. Secondly though, these foods all do a good job of making you feel full. As a result, you stop eating before you’re temped to bite into something less healthy like that bag of cookies or that piece of pie.

So what, then, are some of these healthy snack foods that actually burn calories? Here are a few:

Apricots - These are sweet and satisfying, great to give your sweet tooth what it is craving without having to eat high fat foods.

Cucumbers - Great ‘grow your own’ food. Easy to add to any meal.

Carrots are good, wholesome, and their crunchiness gives you a satisfied feeling.

Strawberries: Let’s face it, the best part of strawberry shortcake are the strawberries, so skip the cake and just eat the delicious, healthy part.

Watermelon: There’s no better summertime treat than this low-calorie, juicy snack.

Tomatoes: These add great flavor to your salds, sandwiches, and a whole lot more. And they’re great for you!

Cauliflower can be eaten with almost any food and cooked in a variety of ways.

Zucchini: Like califlower, there are many ways to cook zucchini. And it has only about 15 calories in a 100 gram portion! It’s hard to beat for a dieter’s healthy snack.

Apples - Apple is quite difficult to digest therefore making it a great food to burn off calories. Your body will work hard to digest the apple and with only 81 calories in a standard apple you will be losing the pounds before you know it.

Hot Chilli Peppers - You could use these as a seasoning on meats, salads and many other foods. Instead of using high fat salad dressings, try hot chilli peppers instead.

These are just some of the negative calorie foods for you to try, foods that burn more calories than they bring in are out there, and you just have to know where to look.
