Plan-Ahead

Your wedding invitation is the first official message about your wedding and your guests need to know about their invite in plenty of time. Here is a checklist to help you plan ahead and be organized:-

1. You must make sure the wording on your invitations is correct. It’s best to get someone to double-check through the invitations with you;

2. Once your venue, date and time of your wedding has been confirmed, you can then order your invitations. Expert wedding planners say to order these about three to six months before the day;

3. When calculating the number of wedding invitations to place on order, it is suggested that you count one invitation per family, couple and single guests.

4. After calculating the number of invitations, add approximately 25 invitations to your order: 10-12 more for keepsakes, plus extras for the last-minute guests. Also, depending on how large your order is, add 25 to 50 additional envelopes in case of mistakes in addressing;

5. Many professional wedding planners say that the invitations should ideally be mailed out six weeks prior to the wedding. You need to give the guests plenty of time to reply;

6. Take one whole assembled invitation down to the post office to get it weighed and the correct postage assigned to it.
