There are a few steps you need to follow when beginning to make home improvements. First, you need to get a few drywall tools to get started. Pick up Putty Trial, Tray, sandpaper, joint putty and a scraper.

Next you should sand down the walls to get out any lumps. Finish up sanding by wiping down the walls to get rid of any sanding debris. A clear white area should be visible after sanding unless you are working with wood area walls.

If there are holes in the wall, use a scraper and fill them in with the putty trial and joint putty. Two coats may be necessary to fill in all of the holes and achieve complete smoothness.

Before you start to fix the wall, take the sandpaper and smooth out the surface. Next, wash the wall to clear away any dust. Make sure that the wall is dry before you sandpaper it. Once you have finished these steps you can start to drywall.

The kit you purchase will come with clear directions. Follow the directions that are provided. It is very important to make sure that you let the base of the paint dry before decorating. Shield the area above the baseline before you begin painting. Once you have finished the project you can paint the wall to make it more attractive. A few coats of paint may be needed to make the wall look presentable. After the paint dries, decorate the wall in whatever fashion you prefer. Buy furniture or curtains to match the new color. Get new carpeting to bring out the wall color.

Once the wall dries, you can begin brainstorming about ways to bring out the new color you have in your home. Change the room to fit the wall you have painted.

Completing drywall is not nearly as tough as some of the other home improvement projects that are done. The key is knowing what steps to follow and going through them step by step. Once you know how to do it you will be able to improve walls throughout your home.

Making walls look the way you want them to look is a nifty trick to have tucked underneath your home improvement hat. Add this vital home improvement skill to your DIY activities.

There are plenty of drywall kits that can be found in hardware stores. The instructions will basically be the same but there may be slight differences depending on the kit you choose.
