Knock Out Acid Reflux and Give Your Gall Bladder a Break
Filed Under Health & Fitness |
As you will soon learn there is a very close association between acid reflux and your gall bladder. This is because the bile that is produced by your liver and then stored in the gall bladder is what causes the symptoms of acid reflux. If the gall bladder and especially the valve leading to the esophagus becomes weakened this then allows the entry of bile into this part of your body. But before we look at some of the ways of treating gall bladder problems and especially acid reflux below we explain a little bit more about what the gall bladder is and what it does.
Your gall bladder is a small pear shaped sack that is located between the lobes of your livers and directly below them. Within it you will find the common bile duct (a y shaped valve) that helps to carry bile from your livers and gall bladder into your small intestines.
When you eat the fat within these foods will be taken into your digestive system and as soon as they reach your stomach a hormone is released. At the same time as the hormone being released by your body the gall bladder releases bile that has been produced by your liver. Together these work on breaking down the fats so that the nutrients contained within can be absorbed by your body and used to help it to function properly.
However, acid reflux will occur as the valve in the gall bladder, which prevents the bile from entering the esophagus, is malfunctioning. This in turn results in the burning sensation that one often feels when you have a bout of heartburn or you suffer from acid reflux. In most cases the more mild forms of acid reflux known as heartburn can be quickly and easily treated using an over the counter antacid treatment. However, for those who suffer from more severe bouts of acid reflux then other medication may well need to be prescribed for them by their doctor.
As mentioned those whose acid reflux is only mild generally find that using antacid medications helps to relieve the symptoms associated with this condition. But if you choose to ignore the problem then you may well find that you will have to go to your doctor and be prescribed with a much stronger type of medication instead. However, antacids are successful in a large number of cases because they help to neutralize the acids that the body is producing. This in turn means that a person is far less likely to experience the painful and certainly uncomfortable symptoms that one associates with acid reflux.
For those people who find that antacids are ineffective at treating their condition then they may well find that their doctor chooses to give them histamine antagonist medication instead. Although they work in the same way as antacids do, they are much more powerful kind of medication so they not only help to relieve the symptoms quickly, but generally for much longer as well.
As well as more conventional medications being used for treating problems associated with the gall bladder and the stomach some people prefer to use more natural remedies as well. The main reason for this is that they are not only cheaper to buy but also the person feels much happier and safer when using them.
When it comes to treating problems of acid reflux and your gall bladder it is best that you speak with your doctor first. By doing this they will actually be able to help you to determine just what is the best course of treatment for your condition and so which will provide you with the right results.
