However, by renting a villa in this part of Spain it offers you the opportunity to see really how the Spanish live. Moreover, renting property is very easy as many Northern Europeans choose to buy second homes here because it has around 320 days of sunshine a year. So in order for them to maintain their properties they will rent them out when they themselves are not using them.

Whilst in the town itself you may want to spend sometime exploring the 18th Century Castillo de Denia that looks over the town.

Even though the town remains pretty much the same as it has for many centuries now it does offer you some superb shopping and places to eat. There is also an indoor market, which provides the town with the same kind of atmosphere that you would expect in Nice. But be warned this town enjoys its fiestas and they occur on a regular basis the main and biggest one of all being the Hogueras de San Juan which takes place in late June each year.

Another place to look for villas is in the Orba Valley that you need to travel further inland to. But here there are some really atmospheric villages and towns where it seems as if time has stood still. In these villages, you will find the old men sitting out on the streets playing dominoes, and the only time you are likely to spot a woman is if you look up towards their balconies where they will be hanging the washing out.
