Tattoos are becoming very popular throughout the United States. Previously, cultural taboos precluded many people, except perhaps rock stars or servicemen or bikers, from getting tattoos. Perhaps you might be surprised to learn that these barriers are being removed. Today, increasing numbers of women are braving the tattoo parlors, and they often choose small feminine tattoos.

Tattoos are a superb outlet for expressing individuality. For instance, tattoos aren’t merely a person’s name in block handwriting any longer. Instead, names can be embellished with flowers, butterflies, or other colored designs. Artists sometimes use elaborate cursive lettering in their designs as well.

Another especially sexy, appealing design is a sun or other emblem encircling your navel.

If you consider yourself to be a religious person, demonstrate the strength of your spiritual beliefs by being tattooed with a visible symbol of your faith. For example, women who follow the Christian faith may consider having a cross tattooed on their bodies in remembrance of the sacrifice made by Jesus. Other women who follow Asian religions may elect to tattoo their bodies with the yin-yang emblem of harmony and balance. Alternatively, women who follow the Jewish faith may contemplated a design involving the Star of David to remind them of their ancestral and cultural heritage.

When you think about getting a tattoo, you should always do your research. Safety is the most important concern to keep in mind. Even if you’re just getting a small tattoo, you are still at risk for infections, so make sure you choose a clean studio that has all the appropriate certifications. The vast majority of tattoo parlors are perfectly safe, but it’s always best to be sure.

Meet with the artist prior to your appointment to discuss the details of the design you desire. Ensure that the artist is completely clear about what you want; you may even think about bringing a drawing to offer an example of your idea. Because it is your body and your money, take care to see that you get what you pay for.
