Over one million slaves were reputably held and transferred from this location over the years. For the African American citizen, a walk into this building will have meaning beyond description.

Then there is the inspiring From Slavery to Freedom exhibit. This is a masterfully presented exhibit of many artifacts from the initial concept of slaves to work the many southern estates and farms to the actual freedom gained after the Civil War that split the American nation in two. This is an excellent opportunity to see the actual journey from the early days of slavery to the final days, and the repercussions during these eras and thereafter.
