Don’t let those cuban cigars get wet

If you smoke cigars, whether they are Dominican or Cuban or a regular Cohiba, a humidor should be your next purchase. A cigar humidor is a box that is always humid, hence the name. The idea is to preserve the Cohiba cigar’s (Or any Cuban cigars for that matter) properties so it maintains its taste, texture and overall dexterity. Cigar humidors are just as big as a decent size shoe box (Although they are available in different sizes and styles). See the thing about Cuban cigars is if the temperature is too high, it looses it’s quality, if the temperature is to low it looses its taste. Whether you are smoking a Cohiba cigar or any other kind, if the temperature isn’t proper, you better get a cigar doctor!

Humidors are also used to ‘enhance’ your current Cuban cigars by aging them. Yes you can ‘age’ certain cigars just like wine. In fact, the whole process is called Cuban tobacco fermentation. Just like how it works for wine, aging a cigar can greatly enhance its flavors. The ‘filler’ tobacco used for the Cohiba cigar is actually aged for 5 years before being used. Plus all Cuban Cigars are hand rolled, except a very few exceptions such as the Puritos or ‘Minis’. Why would you not want to protect something that is so valuable?

You are probably thinking what kind of humidor should you get for yourself. I think a better question would be how would you prefer to store your stogies? You can either get the table humidor, the room humidor or the portable humidor. If you are looking to add further beauty to your existing living room in a creative way, than get the table humidor. A table humidor is usually very stylish and has often become a conversation starter when new guests come over. A table humidor can also be considered fairly expensive of the bunch, some people even collect them because just like Cuban cigars, cigar humidors bring in their own rich tradition. Some of these compact table humidors, although small in size, can store hundreds of thousands of cigars in them. The second kind of humidor is the room humidor. These so called ‘room humidors’ are literally rooms that are turned into humidors. They are found in most average to large sized cigar companies. These rooms are super high tech and control the temperature of each area in the humidor to almost perfection. Cigars in a room humidor stay as close to perfect as possible. Last and definitely not the least, a portable cigar humidor is what I recommend if you have a small to medium cigar collection. By that I mean maybe 5 to 10 cigars or so. The greatest thing about a portable cigar humidor is that no matter where you go, it’s coming with you. Sad part here, a humidor that size can only hold 10 cigars or less.

So regardless of how may Cohiba cigars you buy, make sure you got a nice humidor to stack those beauty’s in. Plus only share it with good company - real people who deserve it.
