There are millions of people looking for a home based business every day, the question is where do they start? There are thousands of business programs easily found just by typing in a few keywords to your favorite search engine. But which do you choose.

Many newbies choose Multilevel marketing as their first taste of home based business. The reason for this is that there is a very small start up cost. The only problem with this type of business is that 95% of the people who succeed in the MLM business are veterans of MLM who have built a large organization of people through many years.

The person who has no sales or marketing experience have very little chance of making any real money. What usually happens is that they end up just buying products to meet monthly quotas. So although there was no initial investment up front, the company gets it in small increments. MLM companys will make it seem so simple to build an organization of 1000’s. Not quite the truth.

It sounds quite simple but in reality the only people the newbie ends up signing up are the couple of family members who want to shut them up. It’s a business that preaches chasing friends and family. The so called warm market that tend to turn a cold shoulder when approached. Then months down the road they ask you “how you doing in that MLM thing?” and by that time the newbie has given up.

There is an alternative to the MLM nightmare and that is direct sales. It is quite different and a lot more lucrative then MLM. You see in a traditional MLM business its about building tremendous organizations of people to get to the level where you will be maing 1000’s of dollars, but up to that point your are only making small change.

With direct sales you are making 100’s and 1000’s from your very first sale. Does it cost a lot more to get into direct sales than MLM. Yes it does, normally anywhere from $500 to $3500 on average. but you normally are in profit mode after just one or two sales.

If you are serious about a business you should expect there to be a cost. With direct sales you get a six figure income potential with a fraction of the investment a typical business. What if you wanted to open up a deli or tanning salon or whatever, it costs big money with a 80% failure rate for small business.

I wish I gave this lesson to myself 20 years ago. I did end up making a success in a few businesses but not without a lot of bumps and bruises. I would have been much better off in a direct sales business because I would have risked a lot less while making a lot more. This business model wasn’t around 20 years ago but it is now and thats exactly where I am.

What you want to look for is a program that has a training system included in the program. This is vital because most likely you do not have experience in internet marketing. Look to get a lot in return for your investment in the form of training materials. For instance ebooks, seminars , video tutorials and so on. If you get all things that is worth you investment alone.

Now what you need to do is search out your right fit, and also look at the person who is looking to sponsor you. Make sure you feel comfortable with them and have confidence they will be there for you when you need them. If you have any questions I am always avaiable.
